Description
Scarlet Temple (Alternanthera reineckii ‘Roseafolia’) is one of the most vivid red plants in the aquarium hobby. Its broad, textured leaves range from deep burgundy to bright magenta, creating a stunning contrast against green foliage. This bold stem plant grows upright and bushy when trimmed and is a favorite for Dutch-style layouts or any aquascape needing a rich splash of color.
While it requires a bit more care than your average green stem plant, the dramatic payoff is well worth the effort.
Care and Planting Directions
Plant stems in a nutrient-rich substrate and provide high light to maintain deep red coloration. CO₂ and regular dosing of iron and micronutrients are strongly recommended. Trim frequently to encourage compact growth and replant cuttings for propagation. Avoid shading it with taller plants to keep colors vibrant.
